I have a batch of articles saved as .txt files (Notepad) in a folder. How do I convert them all simultaneously?

I have a batch of articles saved as .txt files (Notepad) in a folder. How do I convert them all simultaneously into Word .doc format? I need to change the format to .doc and then compress the folder into a zip file and send through email. Have tried everything and can't seem to get it done right!
