Your favorite homemade cookies?

My brother is currently deployed and I'm working on a package to send out to him. I'm looking for a type of cookie (and maybe a recipe) that he/his friends would enjoy and would survive a trip from the states to the middle east. I'll probably do a batch of chocolate chip but I want to do something else as well. (PS- he doesn't like nuts, so those will probably be cut out of any recipes).
