Confused about the relationship!!!!?

i am 21 and i have a male married friend who is 31 and he is a father of a 3year kid..to be more specific he is my professor but our relationship is not like the regular professor and student ,but just gud friends.,initially i had a crush on him and now i hav so much respect for him ,and he knows the fact that i have an attraction towards him,.we both share each other our personal problems but he is little hesitant to speak about his family but all he says is he is not in good terms with his wife.but i dont understand what kind of interest he has in me,bcoz he even says he gets attracted towards younger girls generally and he mentions the name of my co batch girls to whom he has got attracted, he also mentions that he wants to take me out for a dinner and he is not bothered even when the rumors about both of us are spreading.he just replies back that we knew each other and its nothing without our consent and i am not taking any advantage from that . i just wants to know what is he trying to say,or what does he mean by all this?does he like me or he has the same kind of attraction towards me or he just sees a good friend in me? or is he trying to make me possessive by speaking about other girls or is he a flirt? i just cant understand his nature,i see a good friend and a well wisher in him but what am i to him, thats wat i wanna know.?please help me out ...please iam really confused.
