My car was impounded and sold, is there a way i can find out what it sold for?

my car was at a repair shop and my tags expired and i didn't know he was parking it on the street. It got impounded and i couldn't afford the fee's so it was sold. I'm working on taking the company to court for my car, but i'm trying to find out what it sold for. Is there a way i can find out. I'm told that here in california if it sold for more than it's worth, i should get any thing left after the impound fee's are paid.
